The Katsina State Police Command in a sting operation to rid the state of banditry, armed robbery, cattle rustling, kidnapping and other forms of crime and criminality, has arrested 140 suspected rapists.
Confirming the arrest in Katsina on Thursday, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Sanusi Buba, said the arrest was made out of the total number of 87 cases reported in the state.
While briefing the press in Katsina, he said the Command has carried out various operations in several locations within the frontline local government areas busted and arrested many suspected bandits terrorizing Katsina state.
He added that over 50 suspected bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers and cattle rustlers were arrested and recovered 10 AK47 rifles, 20 locally made guns, two motor vehicles, 20 motorcycles, 220 rustled cows, and raw cash of N685,000.
It was also learnt that the Command also killed 15 bandits and rescued 20 kidnapped victims in the ongoing war against all forms of crime and criminality in the state.
CP Buba reiterated that the command was synergizing with the traditional and religious leaders and other relevant stakeholders including parents to ensure that the menace of rape was brought to the barest minimum.
At the moment, CP Buba reiterated that the victims have been charged to court for prosecution.
