
In an attempt to broaden its professionalism, Nigerian Army has taken a step further as one officer and 17 soldiers have graduated from a five-month course at the Nigerian Navy Underwater Warfare School, Ojo.
The graduation took place on Friday, 9th May, 2025 at the Joint Maritime Security Training Centre (JMSTC) Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos State.
The Special Guest of Honour, the Commander 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja, Brigadier General Olawale Oyekola said that such collaboration has showcased the exceptional synergy between both Services which is crucial for the overall success of military operations.
He appreciated the Nigerian Navy for contributing to the development of the personnel through the training at the diving school.
Brig Gen Oyekola reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army would sustain sending its personnel for training in the Diving School.

While appreciating the invaluable support of the instructors in the school, 9 Brigade Commander thanked them for their expertise and grooming NA personnel to become professional ship divers.
To the graduates, Brig Gen Oyekola urged them to maintain high standards going forward as the professional training skills would assist them in the overall military operations in Nigeria’s vast maritime domain.
In attendance were several senior officers including the Commandant Nigerian Navy Ship QUORRA, Commodore Benjamin Onalo, the Commander JMSTC, Commodore BA Francis, and the Commander Naval Air Base Ojo, Commodore TM Vincent.
Other senior officers present at the event were the Commander Maritime Guard Command NIMASA, Commodore HC Oriekeze and the Commander Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service, Captain GB Osobeni amongst others.
Awards were given to individuals that distinguished themselves in character and learning during the course.
