As part of the Armed Forces Celebrations and Remembrance Day (AFCRD) 2026, the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST), 107 Air Maritime Group of the Nigerian Air Force, the Military Hospital, and members of the Nigerian Legion, Edo State Chapter, held a solemn Interdenominational Church Service in Benin City today.

Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters 4 Brigade, Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, disclosed that the service was organised to honour and remember officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the nation, as well as to celebrate the continued success and achievements of the country’s military.

Delivering the sermon, Lieutenant Colonel (Rev) MS Dallys said the theme of the event was “Celebration of Victory and Remembrance of the Fallen Heroes.” Drawing from 1 Samuel 17:45–51, he offered prayers for the success of the Armed Forces in all operations, both within and outside Nigeria, and for the repose of fallen heroes from the First and Second World Wars, the Nigerian Civil War, and peacekeeping missions.

The service was well-attended and featured notable military dignitaries. Major General AO Adegbite, Commandant of NASST, read the First Lesson, while Air Commodore EV Onu, Commander of 107 Air Maritime Group, Nigerian Air Force, read the Second Lesson.

In his remarks, Brigadier General AO Balogun, Commander of 4 Brigade, highlighted that the AFCRD 2026 activities in Edo State began on Friday, 9 January, with a special Juma’at prayer at the Headquarters 4 Brigade Mosque. He prayed for God’s mercy on fallen heroes and for divine protection and blessings on serving, retired, and discharged personnel.

The event underscored the Nigerian military’s commitment to remembering its fallen heroes while celebrating the dedication and bravery of its serving members.
