400,000 APPLY AS PSC EXTENDS POLICE RECRUITMENT DEADLINE

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables by two weeks following the receipt of over 400,000 applications nationwide.

The application portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026, the Commission announced in a statement on Monday.

According to the Head, Protocol and Public Affairs of PSC, Abuja, Torty Njoku Kalu, the decision to extend the deadline was informed by a review of application data, which revealed significant disparities in participation across states. While states such as Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, others—including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra—posted comparatively low figures.

The Commission said the extension is intended to promote equitable representation across the federation and provide additional opportunities for eligible Nigerians, particularly from states with lower application rates, to participate in the recruitment exercise.
Qualified applicants are advised to apply through the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng before the new deadline.

The PSC and NPF also called on state governments, local government councils, socio-cultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders to intensify sensitisation efforts and encourage eligible youths within their jurisdictions to apply.

Reaffirming their commitment to transparency, the Commission assured Nigerians that the recruitment process will be conducted in a fair, credible and merit-based manner.
