…as Army council approves promotion of senior officers
Nigerian Army Council has approved and released the promotion of senior officers in a significant promotion galore in the force.
The list of promoted officers contained in a statement released on Friday, 20th December by the Director Army Public Relations (DAPR), Major General Onyema Nwachukwu indicated that the acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose has been promoted to the rank of a Major General in the army.
According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement said the move was a testament to the Nigerian Army’s commitment to recognizing excellence and merit within its ranks.
He further disclosed that a total of 35 Brigadier Generals have been elevated to the rank of Major General, while 73 Colonels have been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. In total, 108 senior officers were elevated to the ranks of Major General and Brigadier General.
Among those promoted to the rank of Major General are Brigadier General AGL Haruna, Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 North East Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General A Garba Acting Provost Marshal Nigerian Army, Brigadier General UM Alkali, Deputy Chief of Administration, Directorate of Veteran Affairs (Army), Brigadier General NB Ebulue Headquarters Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Brigadier General LG Lepdung Commander Operation WHIRL STROKE, Brigadier General OA Awolo Director Military Training Nigerian Defence Academy, Brigadier General UG Ogeleka Commander Nigerian Army Space Command.
Others are Brig Gen OA Fadairo Commander 12 Brigade, Brigadier General OD Williams Commander 22 Brigade , Brigadier General JR Lar Commander 32 Brigade, Brigadier General AG Mahmuda Commandant Warrant Officer Academy, Brigadier General VD Beryo Commander Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Brigadier General AOD Okoro Director Army Headquarters Department of Special Services and Programmes, Brigadier General SO Adejimi Director Movement Army Headquarters Department of Army Logistics, Brigadier General TT Sidick Director of Finance Nigerian Defence Academy, Brigadier General MCE Ejike Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General MF Babayo Commander Sector 3 North East Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General H Yanet Commander 51 Signal Brigade and Brigadier General MK Gara Army Headquarters Department of Training.

Also elevated to a One-Star General are Col PAJ Ebuk Commander 1 Division Supply and Transport, Col IP Omoke Office of the COAS Directorate of Procurement and Col P Elayo Headquarters Department of Space Administration.”
Others include Col NI Abdullahi Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Col JC Mbanefo Army War College Nigeria, Col IO Amah Department of Operations Defence Headquarters, Col M Jimoh Defence Headquarters Garrison, Col TA Ayoola Army Headquarters Department of Army Operations, Col SA Jimoh Office of the Chief of Army Staff Department of Procurement, Col OC Ameni 103 Division Equipment Support, Col OU Okwuosa 2 Division Medical Hospital and Services, Col AO Odubiyi Armed Forces Command and Staff College, and Col NE Udofia Headquarters Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, among others.“
He added that these promotions are a result of the Army Council’s meticulous evaluation of the officers’ performance, dedication, and commitment to the Nigerian Army’s values.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to redouble their efforts to justify their elevation.
He charged them to lead by example, thinking outside the box, and tackling contemporary security challenges.
