A change in the echelon of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), has led to the removal of the General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
In his place, Bakare-Oki Olalekan has been appointed.
The appointment takes immediate effect. Oreagba was appointed on the 14th of September 2021, by Sanwo-Olu to oversee LASTMA, an organization that has come under intense criticism due to infractions by some staff.
In a press statement by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transportation, Olawale Musa, the appointment of Mr. Bakare-Oki Olalekan is for better performance, eradicating incidences of misdemeanors among staff and continued efficient and effective traffic management on Lagos roads.
It was learnt that Bakare-Oki Olalekan enlisted into the Lagos State Public Service on April 25, 2000, and rose through the ranks over the years to the post of Deputy Director of the Logistics and Engineering Department of LASTMA, before his new appointment as General Manager.
A Masters Degree holder in Transportation Planning and Management from the University of Lagos. He has attended several capacity-building programmes on inter-modal traffic management systems locally and internationally.
Congratulating the newly appointed General Manager, Musa, urged him to justify Governor Sanwo-Olu’s confidence reposed in him by his appointment by rising up to the gamut of challenges while bringing his wealth of experience to bear.
The Permanent Secretary also conveyed the appreciation and gratitude of Mr. Governor to the outgoing General Manager, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, for his commitment, dedication, and meritorious service to the state.
