The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has established Complaint Response Units (CRU) in all the Police State Commands across the country in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Police Act, 2020.
As part of his initiative to emplace a Police Force that is professionally competent, service-driven, rule of law compliant, and people-friendly, the IGP has also organised a 2-day workshop for the heads of the Complaint Response Units.
Force Spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, said the appointed heads of the states’ CRU were directed to assemble at the FCT Abuja on February 21, 2024, for induction into their offices and commencement of the workshop, at the Peacekeeping Hall, 5th floor, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to the statement, at the induction ceremony, the IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, was represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who charged the officers to be upright and just in the discharge of their duties.
He urged them to be firm, up and doing, reiterating the commitment of the IGP to ensuring the protection of people’s fundamental human rights and promoting the core values of the force.
The induction ceremony and 2-day workshop also had in attendance the representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and AIG Austine Iwah, retired AIG and UN certified resource person.
The IGP and other partners, however, promised that the unit would continually receive several training and workshop programmes to better equip them for their new responsibilities, and project the vision statement of the new leadership of the police for improved service delivery.
