TREKKING FOR CDS: HOW A 29-YEAR-OLD MALLAM RABIU TREKKED 700KM FROM GOMBE TO ABUJA

A 29-year-old driver from Gombe State, Mallam Suleiman Rabiu has trekked over 700km in appreciation of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa’s leadership qualities and style.

Suleiman, who left Gombe State on 12 February 2024 arrived in Abuja, yesterday, 28 February 2024 after spending 16 days on the road, despite the unfriendly weather conditions.

The spirited young man said he embarked on the journey to show his appreciation for the admirable leadership qualities of the CDS.

 According to him, the security of lives and property has greatly improved since the assumption of office by General CG Musa.

He added that the people-centric philosophy of leadership of the CDS was what motivated him to identify with the Armed Forces Chief.

Speaking further, Rabiu said he braced all odds to start the journey to Abuja to appreciate and commend the CDS for the excellent and exemplary leadership qualities leading to successes recorded in various theatres of operation across the country.

He maintained that his action is a testimony to the improved security enjoyed in the country, adding that before now, it was almost impossible to embark on such a journey without encountering any hazard occasioned by insecurity in the North East.

Mallam Rabiu was received on behalf of CDS by the Acting Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Assistant Director Defence Headquarters Provost, Major Nneka Olima and the Special Assistant to the CDS, Alhaji Hashim Hussaini.

Brigadier General Gusau, while receiving the young man, thanked him for identifying with the Military, particularly, the Chief of Defence Staff.

He assured the adventurer of the CDS’ continued dedication and commitment to ensuring maximum security in the Country. He reminded the trekker that the Armed Forces under the leadership of General Musa is people-centric and is committed to defending the tenets of democracy and ensuring the sustainability of Mr. President Renewed Hope agenda for the country.
