The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has pledged to strengthen its collaboration and synergy with the Anambra State Fire Service to effectively combat fire incidents and ensure the protection of lives and assets belonging to both public and private individuals in the state.
The Anambra State Commandant of the NSCDC, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, extended this assurance while receiving the Chief Fire Officer of the Anambra State Fire Service, Engineer Chiketa Chukwudi Emmanuel, on a courtesy visit at the State Command Headquarters in Awka.
In a statement by the Head, Media and Tactical Ops, NSCDC Anambra State Command, SC Okadigbo Edwin, Comdt. Olatunde stressed the significance of interagency collaboration in enhancing fire safety measures, refining response strategies, and promoting fire safety awareness throughout the state. He underscored the necessity for a unified approach to fire prevention and safety, particularly in densely populated areas and markets, to prevent fire outbreaks and minimize potential losses.
Engineer Chiketa Chukwudi Emmanuel, the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of the Anambra State Fire Service, reaffirmed his agency’s dedication to collaborating with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to safeguard lives and property and respond promptly to fire incidents.
He explained that the purpose of his visit was to fortify the existing partnership between the two agencies and expand upon it, fostering a more robust and effective working relationship.
He revealed that a revitalized partnership would yield significant benefits during emergency responses and interagency operations. He emphasized the crucial need for public awareness and education on fire safety and prevention and formally requested that resource personnel from the NSCDC participate in fire awareness sensitization campaigns throughout the state, leveraging their expertise to enhance the impact of these initiatives.
