The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe has expressed satisfaction with the successful completion of the Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE).
Maj Gen Aligbe, who also doubles as the Examination President, stated this at a cocktail party organised by the Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre (HQ ICC), Jaji, Kaduna State in honour of the 273 candidates who sat for the SSCQE.
Sani Uba, Lieutenant Colonel, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army disclosed that the event was held at the Air Vice Marshal Ogundana Officers’ Mess, Jaji Military Cantonment, Jaji, Kaduna State on Friday, August 16, 2024.
The Examination President told the examinees that examination is a means to an end but not an end in itself pointing out that to whom much is given, much is statutorily expected.
General Aligbe applauded the commitment, loyalty, and high level of discipline shown by the candidates during the Examination which he said indicated the level of their preparedness towards supporting the Nigerian Army in its fight against the myriads of security challenges facing the country.
While urging them to be good ambassadors of the Nigerian Army, he also, urged the officers to continue to play their roles in support of the country’s aspiration and determination to end insecurity.
He also reminded the candidates of the very essence of the Examination which was designed to test their proficiency and their leadership capacities to be able to undertake higher responsibilities that may be assigned to them now and in the future.
Additionally, he said it was aimed at evaluating the level of their discipline, professionalism, capacity, and courage that will define their career progression in the NA.
Maj Gen Aligbe congratulated the panellists and Directing Staff (DS) for the successful completion of the SSCQE and commended them for adhering strictly to the high standard of discipline, integrity, and sanctity of the examination.
While appreciating the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja for the resources that made the conduct of 2024 SSCQE a huge success, he thanked the Chief Host, the Commander Infantry Corps Centre, Maj Gen Olufemi Oluyede for creating the enabling environment that made the exercise a seamless exercise.
The examination President wished the participants and the guests journey mercies as they returned to their respective destinations.
Earlier in his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour at the event, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Mayirenso Saraso congratulated the Examination President and his Team, Members of the Examination Panel, Directing Staff and Candidates for the successful completion of the 2024 SSCQE.
He stated that he followed keenly the activities surrounding the Examination right from inception as the exercise area is within the Division’s Area of responsibility and he appreciated the candidates for their impressive turn-out at the cocktail party.
Maj Gen Saraso said that the candidates of the 2024 SSCQE looked hopeful and confident on the Examination prayed for them and believed they would be successful when the results are officially released.
He further mentioned his belief in them to be successful at the Examination in order to face the next phase of their career.
Maj. Gen. Saraso appreciated the unalloyed commitment of candidates throughout the exercise. The Special Guest of Honour also thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his support and strategic guidance in all ways, in line with his Command Philosophy, especially on jointness and welfare of personnel down the chain of command.
The climax of the cocktail party was the presentation of souvenirs by the Examination President, Maj Gen Kevin Aligbe to the Special Guest of Honour, senior officers (serving and retired), and other important dignitaries.
The critique on 2024 SSCQE was conducted towards appraising the overall conduct of the Examination and to also identify areas requiring improvement in the subsequent examinations. The Examination ended with the marking and assessment of candidates’ scripts by the panelists on Thursday 22 August, 2024.
