The General Officer Commnading (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam has underscored the importance of complementing operational successes in the field with sound administration and robust welfare.
He made this known on 10th September, 2024, while commissioning 68 Rooms Soldiers Transit Accomodation at 3 Battalion, Effurun Barracks, Warri in Delta State.
Major General Abdussalam further said, the project delivered has demonstrated the importance of quality leadership and unity of purpose in the attainment of worthy goals. He maintained that the transit accomodation represents a remarkable milestone as it addresses a critical accomodation need of troops. This he said, aligned with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s command philosophy.
The GOC highlighted the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the spirit of jointness. He commended the efforts and contributions of Tantita Security Services Limited (TSSL) in achieving the project, which he said will be of immense benefit to the unit, Brigade and the NA.
He pointed out that he is not unmindful of the huge resources committed by the TSSL that brought the project to fruition. This he pointed out, shows the bond between the NA and the outfit, adding that it transcends the operational synergy in the field and have engendered the spirit of comradarie and goodwill.
The GOC reassured that 6 Division will continue to safeguard critical national infrastructure in ensuring increase in oil production in the region. He also hinted that on Okuoma killing, operations are still ongoing, until carted away arms are recovered. He urged soldiers to put the project to good use and maintain it. He commended the Commander 63 Brigade and the Commanding Officers for the feat attained.
Earlier, the Commander, 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Unachukwu, while delivering his welcome address, attributed the operational and administrative strides of the Brigade to the GOC’s guidance and enduring support. He further said, one of the major challenges of the Brigade has to do with inadequate accomodation. Thus, the old Army Day Secondary School as it was known, has been transformed into a remodeled Soldiers Transit Accomodation, all thanks to TSSL. Despite the amount of work required and cost, the company solely undertook the redesign, reconstruction and furnishing of the monumental project he maintained. Thus, the transit accomodation will provide a transit shelter for unaccommodated soldiers of the Brigade as well as temporary camp for troops.
While delivering his remarks, the Executive Director, Operations and Technical, TSSL, Captain Warredi Enisouh, who represented the Chairman of the company said they remain grateful to the NA for the level of synergy that exist between them.
He further said the project is critical, and the Chairman TSSL strongly believed that it must be supported with vigor, hence it was delivered. He reassured that this is the begining of partnership between the NA and the security outfit, adding that the NA does not only contribute to the development and safety of the region but the nation at large.
The newly commissioned transit accomodation has 68 rooms, 18 bathrooms/conveniences and three central kitchens, fully equipped with the capacity to accommodate at least 140 soldiers. The internal area also provides sufficient space for training and exercises among others.
