The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump and the wife Melania have tested positive for Covid-19.
He announced on his Twitter on Friday morning.
The president tweeted: Tonight @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!
Pence and Trump appeared at a coronavirus task force briefing in the Rose Garden of the White House on Monday, they were fairly close to each other and not wearing masks.
However, CNN medical analyst Jonathan Reiner says that House speaker Nancy Pelosi should be in isolation as it is possible that both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence could become ill, in which case she would likely need to step in.
It is a complicated question – who would be in charge if both Trump and Pence were ill.
It would be recalled that Ms Hicks, 31, who serves as a counsellor to the president, reportedly tested positive for the disease on Thursday, the day after she travelled with the president to a rally.
She has travelled with the president a number of times during the past week, including on presidential helicopter Marine One, and on Air Force One to Tuesday night’s first presidential debate.
