The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso has charged newly promoted officers to remain loyal, disciplined, and dedicated to their duties and responsibilities as their actions and inactions going forward will be documented and treated appropriately as Captains and Majors.
He made these remarks during the decoration ceremony of newly promoted officers of 1 Division and Sector 1 Operation FASAN YAMMA at the Division Officers Mess (Annex) in Dalet Barracks Kawo, Kaduna State.
The newly promoted officers were Major YB Yerima of 1 Military Intelligence Brigade, Major AA Abdullahi of 1 Division Finance and Accounts and Major MB Mohammed of Command Secondary School Kaduna. Others are Captain BC Ewoo, Aide-de-Camp to the GOC and Sub Lieutenant IS Mamza, a Naval Officer serving at Headquarters Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
General Saraso congratulated the officers for the well-deserved elevation and thanked the Service Chiefs for considering the officers worthy to be promoted.
He also redoubled their efforts to justify the confidence reposed by the promotion, emphasizing the significance of their new responsibilities.
“The journey in the Armed Forces is not about how far but how well you perform. Every step and action you take from this moment going forward will be appropriately documented. The beauty and pride of the Armed Forces of Nigeria are now in your hands and you must work the talk,” he said.
All the officers were elevated to their new ranks in recognition of their dedication, excellent performance, and achievements in the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy.
In his vote of thanks on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Major YB Yerima expressed gratitude to God Almighty for giving them and their families the privilege of being alive to witness the event.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja and the Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral EI Ogalla for considering them for the promotion and thanked the GOC for his leadership of the Division and for attending the event despite his very tight schedule.
