The Masterclass was filled to bream while the audience sat keenly expecting one of the best makeup artists the world has ever produced to tutor them.
Expectations were at their highest apogee. Considering that she has been the makeup artist to Serena Williams and Beyonce, gave credence to her credentials.
Coming on stage a little late didn’t dampen the audience’s enthusiasm. When she eventually stepped in, dressed all black with shining black shoes to match, the resounding ovation was rapturous in an event anchored by Mojubade Sosanya.
Revealing the secrets behind her success, Sheika Daley gave an insight into her journey into the beauty industry which started after living in high school, and having her mother as an artist gave her a solid background to leverage.
With a degree in Mathematics, born in Jamaica but raised in Florida, USA, her career received a boost with her Mum being a painter, through using the brush and different textures, gained a lot of experience from her.
Inspired by everything – from music, colour, she noted “I am still a student of what I see, as I learn every day with a focus on individuality and personality. “I got inspiration from my family which increased my passion for art and beauty” which swiftly blossomed and has become a recognisable force to reckon with.
With a clientele of top celebrities like Zendaya, Beyoncé, and Nicki Minaj, Daley’s insights into the world of celebrity makeup artistry has achieved a monumental success.
Daley harped on the significance of hydration, re-emphasizing Lancome’s Absolute Moisturizer as a favourite product.
She noted, “Understanding individual skin types and tones helps you create a flawless base. Concealing imperfections, enhancing natural features should not be ignored but most importantly, avoid common mistakes like over-glow and inadequate layering.”
When asked about adapting makeup looks for different events, Daley advised matching the face to the body’s natural tone, rather than drastically changing the complexion. This approach ensures a seamless, natural look that complements the individual’s features.
With her assistance, Mr. Christopher assisted her during the practical part of the Master class. Together, they work harmoniously to create a story that defines her enduring signature.
Observing the common mistake often made, Sheika Daley emphasized, “Trying to apply the same makeup on everyone. Ask your clients questions and get a sense of what their personality is like.”
