A Widow, Mrs. Shakirat Oliyide, has commended the ingenuity and philanthropic gesture of Hon. Taiwo Oyekan as he continues to reach out to the less privileged and vulnerable members of society through his foodstuffs distribution networks.
Oyekan’s Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has been engaging in the distribution of assorted food items worth several millions of Naira to some residents of Lagos Island and its suburbs in recent times as part of his palliatives to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
In her words: “Taiwo Oyekan is a humble, selfless, generous and kind-hearted Individual,” she observed.
Since becoming a council legislator, Hon. Oyekan has recorded remarkable success in his legislative and oversight functions.
It was gathered that much of his achievements came through his Non-Governmental Organization,
Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan Foundation, which has been responsible for the distribution of food items worth millions of Naira to about 400 residents in Lagos Island Local Government Area.
In one of the distribution exercises carried out recently, Hon. Oyekan coordinated and distributed some items at the Eyo Cenotaph, Idumota, Lagos.
Items distributed to the beneficiaries included two kilogram, bags of rice, raw meat, vegetable oil, pepper and tomatoes, loaves of bread and crate of eggs.
While addressing the gathering, Hon. Oyekan said the Food Bank Initiative was organised to further expand its reach to the vulnerable on the Island and beyond.
According to him, the Social Welfare Scheme was to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
Hon. Oyekan applauded the Federal Government for providing relief funds to each state of the federation.
A Community Leader, Mr. Aromire Babatunde Sheu (popularly known as Baboo) in an interview with Newsmen, commended the high-ranking legislator’s Socioeconomic Intervention Initiative.
Continuing, he said, “Over the years, Hon. Taiwo Oyekan has executed numerous Community Development Projects and Economic Empowerment programmes for the residents irrespective of ethnicity and religious affiliation”.
“This Outreach is laudable and timely. I urged him to continue to do good for humanity”.
An Octogenarian and a beneficiary, Alh. Musilimot Olumegbon expressed delight at the Food Items Pack Gift.
“The Almighty God will continue to guide and bless Taiye Omooba (Hon. Oyekan). He will never lack anything good” she prayed.
