The Nigerian Navy on Thursday held its Ceremonial Sunset and Awards Night to round off End of year 2024 activities of the force at Ebubu-Eleme, Rivers State.
The event aligns with upholding one of the age-long traditions of navies worldwide, was held at Headquarters, Naval Training Command, with Rear Admiral IA Albara as Flag Officer Commanding.
Significantly, this year’s event singled out the efforts of some officers and ratings for appreciation and awards as they relentlessly contributed towards the actualisation of NN’s mandate all through the year.
In attendance were the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, who was the Special Guest of Honour and the Chief Host, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla.
Other dignitaries in attendance were former Chiefs of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral J Ayinla, Vice Admiral VK Ombu, Vice Admiral SO Afolayan, and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General E Undiandeye.
Also present were, the first Military Governor of Rivers State, His Royal Majesty, King Alfred Papapreye Diete-Spiff and his Spouse, HRH, Dr Bar Josephine Diete-Spiff, Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral IA Dewu, other Principal Staff Officers from Naval Headquarters and the Chairman of Eleme Local Government, Honourable Obarilomate Ollor amongst others.
It was an evening of glitz and glamour showcasing the beauty of the naval profession which has always enamoured onlookers from times of yore.
