Hell was let loose on Wednesday as #EndSARS Protesters set the family house belonging to the mother of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Omididun Street, Lagos Island, on fire. Also, the BRT terminal with tens of new buses parked have been set ablazed too at Oyingbo.
Across Lagos State, there is pandemonium and attacks by the protesting youths, setting public Enterprises on fire.
In a broadcast by Gov Sanwo-Olu few minutes ago, has suspended every government activities for three days in the state.
He enjoins national flag to flow at low mast while sympathizing with victims of yesterday’s attack at the Lekki Toll Gate. He expressed sadness that the event that led to the shooting were “Forces beyond our direct control”.
Also, Television Continental (TVC) station was stormed this morning by irate youths leading to the shutting down of the station just as a live broadcast “Your View'” was being aired.
Sanwo-Olu had imposed a curfew on the state due to the #EndSARS protests. Soldiers were subsequently called in which led to the deaths of at least seven persons, mostly youths. Reports obtained has it that some youths soaked the house in petrol before setting it on fire. At the Maroko axis in Lekki they are busy throwing stones at the policemen and blocking roads in the process.
Unfortunately, it was gathered the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in Apapa is on fire. The high rise building is engulfed with fire without any form of attempt by the fire service to combat the fire.
Before setting Sanwo-Olu’s family house on fire, the arson, according to a witness, anonymously said, “Around 7.45am, angry youths gathered around Sanwo-Olu’s family home on Omididun Street, Lagos Island, throwing stones and shattering glasses.”
