…presents patrol vehicle to police, school buses to students

Joy, ecstacy, and celebration defined the mood as some residents of Lagos Island were thrown into jubilation, pouring invaluable encomium on a record-breaker Council Legislator and Deputy Leader of Lagos Island Local Government, Hon. Taiwo Oyekan as he presented N20m to vulnerable residents across Lagos Island Local Government Area.
The event which took place on Thursday, 19th December, at Ilupesi Event Centre, Isale-Eko, was part of his Socioeconomic Intervention Initiatives to residents.
While doling out cash gift to widows, elderly citizens, physically challenged persons, petty traders, artisans, technicians and underprivileged people received N30,000 each while hundreds of 5kg bags of rice and filled 3kg gas cylinders were gifted to other Constituents.
Wired with the drive to ensure robust patrol by policemen and tame criminal elements in the local government area, Hon. Oyekan presented a patrol vehicle to the Nigeria Police Force, Ebute-Ero Police Station and two school buses were donated to facilitate the conveyance of students to and from school.
In addition to what the residents benefitted from his ingenious act of giving, Hon. Oyekan gifted two pilgrimage slots to political ward.
In his speech, the amiable Oyekan reiterated his commitment to serving the Constituents, vowing to deliver People-Centric physical Projects across the Island.
“I know the needs of the people in Lagos Island Local Government Area and it is pertinent to upscale their standard of living. My All-encompassing and Life-Transforming Socioeconomic Intervention Initiatives are majorly tailored towards uplifting the residents and making our communities liveable,” he explained.
While urging the beneficiaries to make optimal use of the gifts received, Hon. Oyekan reaffirmed his commitment to complementing the State and Federal governments’ strides.
In his Address, The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu represented by the Special Adviser on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun commended Hon. Oyekan’s numerous Life-Impacting Interventions.
Gov Sanwo-Olu said: “Taiwo Oyekan has displayed purposeful leadership. He is an exceptional individual. The Mega Plus Economic Empowerment is remarkable”
Gov. Sanwo-Olu further stated that Hon. Oyekan’s Programmes are inline with the State Government’s THEMES+ Agenda.
On his part, Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council Chairman, Alhaji Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi extolled Hon. Oyekan for his feats .
“Taiwo is upholding the legacy of the Royal Family” He said.
He stated that the Oyekan lineage are noted for Community Service and excellence, and tasked other public office holders to emulate Hon. Oyekan style.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State Chapter Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi represented by the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Moshood Mayegun lauded Hon. Oyekan’s achievements.
According to him, “We are very proud of him. Indeed, he has delivered dividends of democracy to his Constituents”.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Titilayo Oladeinde expressed gratitude to Hon. Oyekan, describing the Lifeline as “timely and impactful.”
Over the years, thousands of Small and Medium Scale Business Owners have received Business Development Funds and Equipment from Hon. Oyekan.
He had also organised Skill Development and Mentorship Training for Start-Ups.
Recall that the iconic Council Legislator had organised Free Summer Coaching class, presented Scholarships running into several millions of naira and organised Skill Acquisition Trainings for students and Youths on Lagos Island Local Government Area and beyond.
Hon. Oyekan’s Contributions to Universal Basic And Tertiary Education Development On Lagos Island are equally unmatched.
He also oresented a utility bus to a Lagos Community Security Outfit, The Isale-Eko Community Security Team otherwise known as ‘Folumo’ to scale-up Security architecture in the Premier Local Government Area.
The Historic Event witnessed a large attendance of dignitaries across Lagos and Nigeria.
