…as hoodlums sets government, private facilities ablaze

The 21st October, 2020 will forever remain a black Wednesday in the history of Lagos with the hugest cases of destruction on both private and government Infrastructures in the state.
Hoodlums, had in the early hours of the day unleashed a tale of terror following the shooting and killing of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday night by unidentified soldiers.
It was learnt that two policemen were killed and Orile Police Station was set ablazed. Some of the officers were wounded at various stations and ten other police formations were set ablazed across the state.
According to the spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said that criminally-minded hoodlums descended on police stations/facilities and gruesomely murdered two policemen on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 and Wednesday, October 21, 2020, while others were critically injured.
“They looted the affected stations and carted away some valuables.
“Other affected police stations included Idimu, Igando, Layeni, Denton, Ilenbe Hausa, Ajah, Amukoko, Ilasa, Cele Outpost under Ijesha, disbanded SARS officer under Ajegunle, Ebute-Ero Mushin (Olosan) where two policemen were shot by the hoodlums. However, at Ojo and Ajegunle, two patrol vans each were set ablazed.
Similarly, the hoodlums also attacked three new generation banks on Tuesday, October 20 and Wednesday, October 21, 2020, respectively.
The hoodlums were said to have carted away unspecified amount of money while some parts of the banks were set on fire before they were dislodged, and some of them were arrested with the loots from the banks, including arms and ammunition.
It was gathered that at Ajegunle Area, they burnt the Secretariat of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Council and some valuables including cars; and some other private medical and commercial centres were attacked.
Earlier today, October 21, 2020, the hoodlums again launched series of attack on many facilities within Lagos State such as the Palace of Oba of Lagos, Shoprite Ajah, Nigerian Ports Authority head office in Marina, the Governor’s mother’s house at Akerele, Vehicles Inspection Office and Federal Road Safety Corps offices at Ojodu, Lagos State, Magistrate Courts, Igbosere, TVC station, the Nation Newspapers office, and many other shops/malls were looted.
Generally, due to the persistent attacks and mayhem caused by the hoodlums, four people were injured while others lost their lives.
The Command has reiterated that in as much as they respect people’s opinions and rights, it would not allow the present situation degenerate to anarchy and general insecurity where hoodlums would go on killing spree and destroying and looting people’s property with impunity.
It added that the Command would repel any group of individuals that might want to continue with these heinous and barbaric acts across the state adding that “We are committed to the maintenance of law and order and in the enforcement of all laws in Lagos state.
