The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai on Friday inaugurated major projects at Asabari Barracks, Saki, Oyo State.
The COAS, who was represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. A. B. Omozoje commissioned seven newly renovated blocks of accommodation for Corporal below, four newly acquired Toyota Hilux, one Toyota Medical Field Ambulance and seven motorcycles.
Similarly, he also commissioned a Remodeled Quarter Guard at Asabari Barracks.
Gen. Omozoje in his remarks expressed appreciation to His Royal Majesty, Okere of Saki Land and the people of Saki for being supportive to the Nigerian Army.
He used the opportunity to advise the troops to remain loyal and apolitical to the Nigerian Army, admonishing them to maintain the new facilities for optimal benefit to all and sundry.
Also Commissioned were special intervention borehole initiated, sponsored and constructed by the Nigerian Army at the Palace of the Okere of Saki, Oyo State, which was commissioned by the Chief of Projects and Programmes, Army Headquarters, Maj. Gen. MSA Aliyu, who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Projects and Programmes, Army Headquarters, Maj. Gen. A. M. Alabi.
According to the spokesperson for the 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Colonel Hassan Mohammed said the project was one of the several projects contributed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai’s Nigerian Army non-kinetic line of operations.
It was gathered that in Saki, portable drinking water has been a perennial problem as members of the community were in short supply of water for a very long time.
While appreciating the kind gesture of the COAS, His Royal Majesty, Okere of Saki Land, Oba Kaleed Oyeniyi Olabisi expressed joy and added that “This borehole is a special intervention project provided by the Chief of Army Staff to help our people out of hardship of scarcity of portable water in Saki.”
The ceremony was attended by members of his Council of Chiefs, military and paramilitary officers both serving and retired, members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, 244 Recce Battalion Chapter, Saki.
