…Calls on serving police men to be honest

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Pen Cinema, Agege Lagos State Police Command, Superintendent Olatunde Omotayo, has called on serving police personnel to exhibit high degree of honesty and discipline while discharging their duties as officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force.
The former Divisional police officer gave the advice during a retirement party organised in his honour at the weekend in Agege area of Lagos.
While making his valedictory remarks, SP Olatunde, who expressed gratitude to Almighty God for seeing him through the 35 years in service to the nation, thanked the police high command for the opportunity and the family for their assistance.
In a separate interview with our Correspondent, the outgoing Divisional Police Officer said one of his greatest achievements during his stay in Agege Pen Cinema was that there was no record of major robbery incident as his presence remained a dread to criminal gangs.
The retired officer with good track record, had served in various capacities including the Lagos State Task Force before he was redeploy to Pen Cinema Agege as the Divisional Police Officer.
Most of his colleagues who spoke about him; High Chief Segun Erikitola (aka ORO) a retired Superintendent of Police (SP), said the retired officer was his close friend and served together during the course of Service, adding that they had good time visiting each other and had robust relationship for 35 years.
Also speaking, another retired cop Chief Durokifa (Ekekin of Panada) who is also the Chairman, Lagos Hotel Association, Agege, described the retired DPO as an “Upright man who discharged his duties with fear of God. He did very well here as a DPO and I wish him well in his future endeavours.”
To Fatai Dosunmu, a Superintendent of Police (retired), described the DPO Olatunde as “an excellent officer who possess a special gift in the security profession.
He advice the retired officer to keep it up not to allow the gift to die. “I will advice him to set up a Security company.” Another officer to spoke well about the retired DPO is James Olorunfemi an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) he said the retired DPO is a super cop who performed excellently well during the course of the tenure.
Among those present during the ceremony included the Divisional Police Officer CSP Shogunle Rotimi Durojaiye, Divisional Police Officer Elere; CSP Olarenwaju Smith, Divisional Police Officer, Dopemu, CSP Stephen Abolarin and Divisional Police Officer, Albatoir Division, Ajayi who was promoted recently to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
Other personalities at the event were Chief Agunbiade Oloruntoyin Bashorun of Atobaje Land Agege and former Administrative officer (AO) Pen Cinema Police Division, Mr Arowolo Olabode.
In his commendation, the Station Officer (SO) Pen Cinema Police Division, Supol Rotimi described his former boss as one of the best man to work with because he had a good heart.
“My DPO easily forgive any officer that offended him. He takes all of us as his children. I wish him well in his future endeavours,” SO Rotimi reiterated.
