Navy Social-Cultural Activities (NASA) has been described as veritable platform for fostering camaraderie among military personnel, families and celebrating Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage thereby improving national security through socio-cultural harmony.
These were the words of the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Emmanuel Ogalla while making his remarks as the Special Guest of Honour, at the 2024 Navy Socio-Cultural Activities (NASA) on Saturday, 22nd February 2025 hosted by Naval Unit Abuja.
Represented by the Director of Administration, Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral BK Effiong, he eulogized the Chief Host and the organising committee for a successful event.
NASA, which was held at the Naval Unit Parade Ground brought together officers, soldiers, their families, and a diverse group of distinguished guests, including government officials, retired senior military officers, and representatives of security and paramilitary agencies.
In a brief remarks by the Chief Host, the Commander, Naval Unit, Commodore Oluseyi Oladipo commended troops for a successful 2024 operations and other activities. In the same vein, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, was represented by Mr Olubiyi Sunday thanked the troops for ensuring maritime safety and prosperity.
The event featured cultural displays, Tug-of-War competition and award presentations while the event was rounded off with Sunset which is the lowering of flags, symbolising the official end of the year’s activities, and the lighting of a bonfire to reinforce camaraderie among soldiers and other security personnel.
