
A well-coordinated raid of criminal safe haven in Gidan Drama, within the circumference of Malu Road, Apapa by the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT has led to the arrest of 27 suspects with different quantity of drugs
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the Headquarters, NNS Beecroft Apapa on Wednesday, the Commander NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Paul Ponfa Nimmyel disclosed that the raid was carried out on Saturday, 5th April, 2025 by personnel of NNS BEECROFT following credible intelligence on the presence of suspected drug peddlers in Gidan Drama which necessitated the deployment of Operation MESA.

The Commander, who was represented by the Executive Officer, Captain Idongesit Udoessien explained that during the raid, a total of 27 suspected drug peddlers – comprising of three females and 24 males – were arrested with hard drugs and other illicit substances.
According to him, the breakdown of the suspects, who were identified Ajike Rahime, 20 years; Padipe Olamiposin, 20 years; Ayike Yusuf, 21 years were female while their male counterparts included Samaili Ibrahim, 21 years; Yusuf Danjuma, 30 years; Hamisu Sanusi, 34 years; Odi Yahaya, 20 years; Adamu Umaru, 23 years; Friday Ochoba, 45 years; Michael Istwuo, 25 years; Eze Frank, 40 years.
Others include Joshua Esua, 20 years;Daus John, 19 years; Musa Andrawus, 34 years; Nwakaeze David, 21 years; Abubakar Shamsu, 24 years; Elisha Mark, 18 years; Mohammed Umar, 22 years; Bashir Abubakar, 30 years;Nafiu Hassan, 35 years; Akombi Dele Yusuf, 34 years; Abdullahi Yusuf , 23 years; Abba Usman, 22 years; Ukasha Alhassan , 29 years; Abdullazeez Yusuf, 18 years; Joshua Emmanuel, 21 years; and Justice Obasa, 32 years.

The Commander observed that the successful arrest of 27 suspects and the illicit substances underscores the unwavering commitment of NNS BEECROFT to curtailing spread and use of illicit drugs among teaming youth which negatively affect their health and threaten national security.
Accordingly, Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim, Base Information Officer, Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT reiterated in a statement that the 27 suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the officials of National Drugs law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and necessary action.
