
…SWORE IN NEW EXECUTIVE
An international entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Eric Opah has been elected Chairman of Oha Nsulu Unity Forum of Nsulu Ancient Kingdom in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State. Also, elected are the members of the excos.
Nsulu, a rural agrarian community recently trended on social and conventional media platforms with the siting by the Abia State government of the Abia Airport Project on a portion of its vast picturesque land.
The project which initially took off on a controversial note gradually received wide acceptance from the host communities as noise in the communication between government and host communities was gradually eliminated. Good news emerging from the community is that payment of compensation has started coming in batches, putting smiles on the faces of the landowners. And still on a positive note, an Economic Development Team, led by a seasoned banker, Fidel Ibeabuchi, has taken it as a task to guide beneficiaries how to make very good use of their money by pointing them to investment opportunities that will guarantee their future.

The election of a new Executive Committee by Oha Nsulu Unity Forum , ONUF, is therefore an icing on the cake. Preceding the election, were deliberations on the draft constitution, for the Forum. The draft constitution was thereafter adopted by the general house following a motion for its adoption which was unanimously supported.
The interim Chairman and Secretary of ONUF for the past three years, Chief Friday Onukwue, Hon. I C. Nwankwere, and a member of the Executive, Chief Emmanuel Emeh in their remarks commended the Constitution Drafting Committee led by Dr. Emmanuel Dawari for successfully completing what they described as ‘a great and tasking job’.
Other members of ONUF who spoke, including Rt. Hon. Uzor Azubuike; Dr. Sam Onukwue; Dr. Tony Ibeabuchi; Dr. Obioma Orji; Dr. Chukwuma Offor; Rev. Israel Ukaoma; Mrs. Uchechi Ikonne; Fidel Ibeabuchi; High Chief Chijioke Ozems; Ibeabuchi Godwin; Chief Onyebuchi Ngwaogu; Deacon Henry Nwosu, Francis Chigbu, Hon. Uchenna Nwanbuko, Hon. Jude Obasi, Hon. Clement Ugorji and others thanked both the Dr. Emmanuel Dawari led Constitution Drafting Committee and Chief Friday Onukwue outgoing Executive and subsequently called for elections in line with the agenda of the meeting.

The immediate past Executive were dissolved to pave way for the emergence of a new Executive.
At the end of the nomination excercise to constitute an Electoral Committee, Barr. Andrew Obinna Ijeri, emerged the Committee’s Chairman, with Ody John as the secretary; Chisom Nwaogbe, Ogbonna Christian Emeka and Engr. Ugochukwu James.
Elections were subsequently conducted for the various positions, and at the end of voting the following emerged as the new Executives: Chief Dr. Eric Opah, Chairman polled 348 votes to emerge Chairman; Hon. Gospel Uche emerged Vice Chairman wiith 308 votes; Dr. Stan Ukaoma, Secretary with 300 votes; Deacon Ahamefula Orji, Assistant Secretary with 203 votes; Emeka Nzemecha, Treasurer with 150 votes; Isaac Obisike Nwosu, Financial Secretary with 200 votes; Prince Clinton Uba, Publicity Secretary with 260 votes and Bestman Ugorji emerged Welfare Officer with 180 votes.
Other members of the new Executive include: Chief Friday Onukwue and Hon I. C. Nwankwere as Ex-officio members.

In line with the constitution of the Forum, the position of Legal Adviser zoned to Amaasaa Nsulu could not be filled as the people of the zone could not immediately present a candidate.
In his acceptance speech after taking Oath of allegiance and office with the new Executive, the new Chairman, Dr. Opah thanked members of the Electoral Committee for the peaceful conduct of the elections, he thanked those that initially concieved the idea of Oha Nsulu Unity Forum, and all the people that had worked tirelessly to keep the group together for the past three years, especially, Chief Friday Onukwue-led immediate past Executive.
Dr. Opah also appreciated Nsulu people for finding him worthy to serve the great people of Nsulu. He acknowledged his tight business schedule should have discouraged him but vowed to advance the development of Nsulu with his new position and will abide by the constitution of the body.
“I will rise up to the challenges of this big task handed over to me by our people and will reach out with our think- thank within Nsulu and have a synergy that will advance the course of our people”
“Nsulu will become a Community where other people will come to learn from, in few months time”, he affirmed.
