COLLABORATION IS CENTRAL TO DEFEATING INSURGENCY 2

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Ibikunle Ajose has re-emphasized the importance of collaboration among security agencies, which is central to defeating insurgency and stabilizing the volatile regions.

He stated this while receiving the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who was at the Headquarters, 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Sokoto on a strategic visit with a view to broadening, strengthening synergy to enhance frontline collaboration.

The GOC commended the NSCDC for its consistent role in joint operations.

Addressing officers of the Corps deployed under joint operations,  CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi,  lauded their professionalism, discipline, and tactical composure in the field.

He expressed satisfaction with their conduct and reiterated his confidence in their capacity to work effectively within inter-agency security frameworks.

“By antecedent and historical foundation, the NSCDC is a product of the Nigerian Army. Our roots trace back to 1967 during the Nigerian Civil War, when we emerged to support military operations by rescuing and resuscitating the wounded.

“What began as a volunteer-driven humanitarian effort evolved into an essential component of national security—culminating in our formal establishment as a paramilitary institution under the law.”

The CG emphasized the importance of synergy, adaptability, and continuous learning, reminding personnel that national security is a shared responsibility best upheld through coordinated strategy, mutual trust, and unwavering commitment.

“Security is not owned by one agency; it is a joint covenant we uphold together in service to the nation,” he stated.

The visit reinforced the deep-rooted bond between the Nigerian Army and the NSCDC—a relationship anchored in history and strengthened by shared sacrifice and dedication to national peace.
