
Poised to increase its personnel strength and reposition the force to better combat the activities of pirates and sea robbers, the Nigerian Navy has commissioned 264 cadets into its officers cadre.
As a result, the Special Guest of Honour (SHOH) at the occasion, the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, His Excellency, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle has called on the newly commissioned officers to brace up for the challenges confronting the Nation and make significant contributions wherever they are posted.

The Passing out parade and commissioning ceremony of Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 29 and Special Duty Pre-Commissioning Training (SDPCT) 24 took place on Saturday, 24th May 2025 at Nigerian Naval College (NNC) Ebubu-Eleme, Rivers state.
The 264 cadets commissioned comprises 115 DSSC 29 and 149 SDPCT 24 cadets.

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, the Chief Host welcomed dignitaries that graced the occasion which included the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ette Ibas (retd), the Chairman House Committee on Navy, Honourable Yusuf Adamu Gagdi and the Amayanabo, King of Brass Kingdom Alfred Diette-Spiff.
The Special Guest of Honour, Dr Matawalle, commended the CNS, the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral IM Albara and the Commandant NNC, Rear Admiral HS Zego for a job well done in training the Cadets.
