Prominent Anioma/Ika indigenes of Delta state, Nigeria, resident in the United States of America (USA) recently celebrated their very own, Dr Anne Ighade, a native of Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area, married to her lovely husband, Dr Andrew Ighade, a famous pediatrician based in the U.S and native of Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, both in Delta state, as she bagged/received a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from the Prestigious University of North Carolina, Charlotte, United States of America.
At the celebration which provided a veritable platform to showcase Agbor culture and tradition, prominent dignitaries that flew in from all parts of the United States, explained that the event was not just for the graduation ceremony but a golden opportunity for Ika people in particular and Anioma nation in general to celebrate a quintessential personality in the person of Dr Anne Ighade, her exemplary life style, her brilliance with unparallelled learning capacity, a virtuous woman and an embodiment of humility.
Kick starting the cultural aspect of the celebration. Grand Knight Emeritus, Sir Tonna Okei, Ikuku Oma and Asoju Oba of Oyotunji who appeared in Agbor complete traditional regalia in company of his wife, Yeye Asoju Oba, Dr. Toyin Okei, presented an expensive wine to Chief Obi Melekwe, the Obazenu of Owa, the revered High chief of Owa, who doubled as the traditional father of the day to pray for their daughter in-law, bless and congratulate her.
Speaking at the margin of the celebration, Grand Knight Emeritus, Sir Tonna Okei, Ikuku Oma, praised Ighade’s sterling attributes, adding that she is deserving of every accolade and encomium that was poured on her by all present.
‘’As friendly, loving and welcoming people, Agbor people are here to celebrate their wife. Dr Anne is a good lady and a good wife. That is why the Ika people flew in from all parts of the United States, in their numbers, irrespective of the distance and personal schedules to celebrate with her as a stamp of love and authority. They showered praises on her as a good, loving, submissive wife to our son’’.
Tonna, an Ambassador of Ika Culture and President of Organization of Africa Unity, South Carolina stressed that for the fact that very high profiled dignitaries such as; Chief (Dr) Obi-Melekwe and his beautiful wife, Dr. Bernard Orewa and Mrs Franca Orewa, Pharmacist Sunny Obuseh and his wife, Mrs Doris Okonkwo and Barrister Anthony Onwordi (ably represented by his wife) Mrs Cecilia Onwordi, tells the stuff Dr Anne Ighade is made of.
The Agbor, Delta State born Tonna also pointed out that the presence of notable Deltans such as Dr Phyl Ogwude Ogoh, Pastor and pastor Mrs Chucks Owuzo, Dr Emmanuel and Mrs Nkonyeasua Mordi, Mrs Rachael Ajebon, Mrs Josephine Sesay, Prof Loretta Evivie, and Dr Uvoh Onoriobe and his wife Chimenim Onoriobe, among others, stand as a telling example of the fact that Dr Ighade is loved and respected by all.
Sir Okei was not the only person who spoke glowingly of her, Mr Joe Osazuwa concurred and Dr Joel Onofowokan joined in to praise and congratulate Dr Mrs Ighade too, as others at the venue which was packed full by people also made compelling positive comments, taking turns to shower praises on her.
More specifically, Ighade in the estimation of Dr Uvoh Onoriobe, who functioned as the Master of Ceremony at the event “is not only a good wife but a bundle of humility with an enduring history of respect for all that she comes across”.
The high points of the celebration include; refreshments, taking of group Photographs and dance with Dr, Ighade among others.
