A young man, a youth leader in Ekpan Development Committee in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State got the worst public flogging of his life for raping a young girl at Ekpan community.
Erumu, the rapist, it was learnt was caught in the act on Monday morning of December 7, 2020.
The suspect from a prominent family in the community, was aspiring for the post of Vice President after being the outgoing Youth Central Executive of Ekpan Development Committee.
Confirming the incident, the Community President, Stephen Akemu a.k.a Hon. Astone, said by his action, Erumu has been disqualified from contesting in the upcoming election.
As a result of the unquantifiable disgrace he brought to himself, his family, and the community especially as a youth leader, he ordered to be flogged publicly to serve as a deterrent to others.
Meanwhile, a member of the Committee, Franklin Ochuko Akemu, warned that such acts will not be tolerated in the community.
“Ekpan community will not tolerate any wrong doing and Erumu’s immoral conduct while raping a helpless girl is shameful.
The youths warned that anybody caught indulging in wrong acts with impunity, would be severely dealt with.
