The Nigerian Military Troops of 17 Brigade, Operation FASAN YAMA at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kurfi in Katsina State, killed eight terrorists during an encounter along the Road Kurfi – Batsari at the early hours of Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye disclosed that during the encounter, the troops swiftly engaged the terrorists, and after a prolonged duel, defeated them, thwarting the attack.

According to him, the terrorists suffered significant casualties, with eight killed in action. The troops also recovered 5 AK-47 rifles, 6 AK-47 magazines, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

General Kangye revealed that one of the troops, however, was wounded in action and evacuated to the 17 Brigade Medical Centre for treatment. The situation remains calm, while troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain high.

Commending the bravery and professionalism of the troops involved in the operation, the Defence Headquarters reassures Nigerians of continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of the citizens.
