SECURITY: CP ORUTUGU HOSTS RECTOR FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC OKO, HEAD FEDERAL ESTABLISHMENTS TO STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP IN ANAMBRA

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, on Monday, June 23, 2025, played host to the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Mrs Chioma Irene Amuzie and the Head of Federal Establishments in Anambra State, Mr. Chijoke Okechukwu in his Office at Awka.

Their visit aims to jointly develop plans and address specific security challenges in Oko and especially around the Polytechnic and other Federal Government facilities in the State.

The CP during their interaction sought greater cooperation from the Management of the Polytechnic to help the Police serve them better.

He regretted the unfortunate incident of June 19, 2025, which according to an eyewitness account revealed how armed criminals operating with a motorcycle and black Lexus 350 SUV without a plate number, started shooting indiscriminately at the Total junction wounding four persons including a lady. The hoodlums abducted two other people at the Tipper junction before they fled the scene.

In their response, the Rector of the School, Dr (Mrs) Chioma Irene Amuzie as well as Mr Chijoke Okechukwu, the Head of Federal Establishments in Anambra State thanked the Police for their prompt response at the scene of the incident as it prevented further loss of life and properties. They pledged to assist the Police to step up surveillance and provide necessary information for security agencies especially in the ongoing investigation of the incident.

In attendance at the meeting were the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigations Department, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Intelligence Department and other senior Officers.

According to the Police Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the highlight of the meeting included the presentation of Gift to the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko by the Commissioner of Police.

The meeting, no doubt, demonstrates CP Orutugu’s proactive approach to security and community engagement.
