…story of missing 15 years old girl found after a month
By Okosun Dennis
She has speech defectiveness, and left her mother’s shop at Garriki-Awkunanaw, Enugu State to an unknown destination, began the story of a missing 15 years old girl, Miss Blessing Sunday Odii.
She was said to have wondered away on November 21, 2020 but was found by Miss Deborah Ndidiamaka Eneh, and miraculously reunited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sunday Odii and other family members.
It was not designed to happen at the State Headquarters of Enugu State Police Command on December 22, 2020, after all efforts to locate her failed but providence beckoned on the family and it had come to pass.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe said on Wednesday that after leaving her mother’s shop at Garriki, Awkunanaw, Enugu to an unknown destination, all frantic efforts made by her parents to locate her whereabouts proved abortive.
“Interestingly, providence smiled on her when she was found in New Haven area of Enugu by a Good Samaritan, Miss Eneh, who took her home and was supported by her elder sister, Mrs. Ikechi Odu and her husband, Mr. Jonathan Odu, to cater for her pending when she is properly identified and claimed by her parents or relatives.”
However, the trio also reported the matter at both New Haven Police Station and Ministry of Gender Affairs.
Fortunately, however, in what seems to be a miraculous coincidence, Little Miss Blessing was brought to the Command’s Police Public Relations Office for documentation in view of a Television and Radio announcement cum press release when, without any prior knowledge, her mother, Mrs. Ijeoma Odii also choose to visit the same Office to report and apply for the announcement of her missing child.
ASP Ndukwe reiterated that like the unrestrained attraction of a metal to a magnet, mother and daughter found themselves uncontrollably hugging each other with a free flow of tears of joy, following their over one month period of separation, leaving on-lookers at the Headquarters in awe.
As a result of this development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman lauded “the humanitarian and charitable disposition” of Miss Edeh and Mr. & Mrs. Jonathan Odu to the missing but found and reunited Little Miss Blessing.
Describing the feat as “an uncommon show of compassion and charity,” CP AbdulRahman enjoined residents of the State and the general public to take a cue from the Good Samaritans but must not be weary in loving and caring for people in need and distress, just like the teenager.
