ANSEC PROVIDES WATER FACILITIES TO NKWO UMUNZE COMMUNITIES, TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

ANSEC PROVIDES WATER FACILITIES

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and members of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) have awarded a contract for the provision of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities to Nkwo Umunze and other nearby communities, aiming to alleviate the water supply problem in that part of the state.

The approval for the provision of the WASH facilities was also extended to the Chief Jerome Udoji State Secretariat in Awka, the state capital, for the well-being of public service personnel working at the complex.

The Council also approved the construction of a solar-powered borehole and rehabilitation of five non-functional boreholes at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus, and the provision of hybrid power-driven Water Supply Schemes to Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe.

According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the Council’s deliberations at the 17th ANSEC meeting at the new government house, now called Light House, Awka, held on the 30th of July 2025.

Mefor stated that these are parts of Governor Soludo’s government in making the communities a better and more livable environment to improve the quality of life for the people, in his comprehensive urban regeneration agenda in turning Anambra into the Dubai-Silicon Valley of the country, where economic and business thrive.

This philosophy has spurred the transformation of the state, and this progressivism has been commended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the indigenes in the country and diaspora, in the governor’s scorecard of outstanding achievements presented to Anambra citizens at various fora.

The governor has made significant impact in areas such as security, by reducing crime through strategic interventions through the state’s security system called Agunechemba and technology-driven policing, as well as the Operation Udo Ga-Achi operatives; in infrastructure with massive road construction and urban renewal projects across the state; and education, by overhauling the public school system, implementing free education policy and recruiting 8,115 teachers.

Governor Soludo’s transformation drive is also evident in the health sector, by building new general hospitals, upgrading others, hiring new doctors and nurses, and granting free antenatal services to women; and in the area of economic growth by attracting investments, industrialisation, and empowering youths through digital training for human capital development.
