In it’s sustained fight against vehicle theft and other related crimes in the territory, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested suspected criminals and recovered four stolen vehicles in a separate operations.
According to the Police Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, “On July 23, 2025, following a complaint from one Mrs. Okanemhen at Jabi Police Division that her driver, Abubakar Nuhu, of Magana Village, Toro LGA, Bauchi State, absconded with her trailer, registration number GWA 40 XC, after delivering a consignment of cement at a factory in Obajana, Kogi State. The suspect had deliberately removed three tracking devices installed on the vehicle but was unaware of a fourth hidden tracker that remained active.
“Acting swiftly, operatives of Jabi Division tracked and recovered the trailer, arresting the suspect in Kaduna State.
“Investigations further revealed that all personal identification inscriptions on the vehicle had been erased with black paint in a bid to prevent tracing.
“The suspect is currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices who remain at large.
“In a separate operation, operatives attached to the Anti-Car Theft Section and the Scorpion Squad of the Command’s State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) recovered three vehicles stolen at different intervals within the FCT, namely, Toyota Hilux, white colour, registration number YAB 891 EL; Toyota Camry, ash colour (butchered); and Toyota Corolla “bank model” (butchered)
“While the Toyota Hilux was recovered intact, the Toyota Camry and Toyota Corolla had already been butchered and sold off in parts as spare parts or scrap.”
According to Adeh, the two suspects, Ikechukwu Iwueze and his accomplice, Amobi (an ex-convict), were arrested in connection with receiving and reselling parts of the stolen vehicles. Both suspects freely confessed to the crime and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Ajao Adewale, psc, mnips, commended the officers involved for their swift and coordinated response. He further advised residents to install functional vehicle tracking devices and to conduct proper background checks and verification of employees through the Police before engagement, particularly in sensitive positions.
