
The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, represented by Dr. Ayo Bakare, delivered a keynote address and participated in a panel session at the Africa Data Sovereignty Conference 2025, themed “Empowering Enterprises with Secure, In-Country Infrastructure.”
In his keynote, Inuwa described data as “the new oil of the 21st century,” emphasising its role in fueling innovation, driving economic growth, and shaping national sovereignty. He explained that data sovereignty extends beyond mere control, encompassing trust, resilience, economic empowerment, and digital independence.
During the panel discussion, the NITDA DG reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation through three strategic pillars: policy leadership, infrastructure enablement, and capacity development.
