NITDA, GOOGLE DEEPEN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO DRIVE NIGERIA’S DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

Admin October 1, 2025
ITDA, GOOGLE STRENGTHEN TIES TO ADVANCE

In a renewed push to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation and economic growth, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, joined Marcus Jadotte, Google’s Vice President for Government Affairs & Public Policy (Cloud), and his delegation on a series of high-level engagements with key government stakeholders in Abuja.

The partnership tour included visits to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa; and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

The discussions, which align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, centred on harnessing digitalisation to drive economic and societal development, improve public service delivery through smart technologies, strengthen digital education infrastructure, enhance cybersecurity resilience, and advance cloud adoption to optimise government technology costs.

Key areas of collaboration include the modernisation of Nigeria’s education sector through AI-powered learning platforms, digital tools, and skills training to bridge the skills gap and prepare students for future digital careers. Both NITDA and Google also reiterated their shared commitment to positioning Nigeria as a regional leader in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity across West Africa.

The strategic partnership is expected to:

  • Reduce public sector technology expenditure,
  • Boost national workforce productivity,
  • Improve governance and service delivery,
  • Strengthen national security through digital intelligence, and
  • Attract foreign investment to spur sustainable economic impact.

With these initiatives, Nigeria is poised to strengthen its role as a secure, innovative, and inclusive digital economy, while laying the groundwork for long-term national transformation.
