NITDA DG ENDORSES NIGERIAN DATA EXCHANGE PLATFORM AS CATALYST FOR PROSPERITY, INNOVATION

NITDA DG ENDORSES NIGERIAN DATA EXCHANGE

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has described the Nigerian Data Exchange Platform (NGDX) as a transformative tool for driving national prosperity, digital inclusion, and efficient governance.

Speaking at the NGDX Stakeholders Workshop held at Fraser Suites, Abuja, Inuwa noted that the current fragmentation of data across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) creates inefficiencies, delays, and barriers to innovation.

“With a unified and secure data exchange platform, citizens will no longer be required to repeatedly submit personal information to different institutions. Access to public services will become faster, more seamless, and more transparent,” he stated.

He further highlighted that the NGDX would create opportunities for startups and enterprises to leverage anonymised public data to develop innovative solutions across critical sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, fintech, and education technology.

Describing the platform as “essential digital infrastructure” on par with nationwide fibre optic rollout, the NITDA boss said it will play a key role in strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy.

Inuwa assured stakeholders of NITDA’s full commitment to working with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and other partners to ensure the successful implementation of the NGDX, with the ultimate goal of delivering cost-effective digital services to citizens.
