As part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s cybersecurity resilience, the Federal Government has officially commissioned a state-of-the-art Cybersecurity Centre at Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
The facility, built by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), underscores the government’s commitment to securing Nigeria’s digital future while building an inclusive and knowledge-driven economy.
According to NITDA, the Centre is strategically designed to function as a hub for cybersecurity education, research, and capacity development, providing tools, infrastructure, and expertise to protect Nigeria’s digital ecosystem. It will also serve as a platform to train and empower the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
Beyond its academic role, the intervention represents a deliberate strategy to foster innovation and strengthen national resilience against evolving cyber threats.
NITDA described the initiative as fully aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises digital transformation, national security, and human capital development as cornerstones of Nigeria’s economic growth.
