The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has called on Nigerian entrepreneurs to harness the power of technology and e-commerce to scale their businesses beyond physical and geographic boundaries.
Inuwa made the call while delivering the keynote address at the Bayelsa State E-Commerce Entrepreneurship Programme (BEEP) 2025, held in Yenagoa. He underscored the transformative role of digital platforms in turning local enterprises into globally competitive businesses.
Highlighting strategies for success in the digital economy, the NITDA boss spoke on customer engagement, product marketing, and building lean, technology-driven startups. He also showcased NITDA’s ongoing initiatives designed to support innovation and entrepreneurship, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for inclusive economic growth.
“As entrepreneurs, your greatest opportunities lie in leveraging digital tools and platforms to innovate, connect with global markets, and create sustainable businesses,” Inuwa told participants. He further invited Bayelsa innovators to showcase their solutions at the upcoming GITEX Nigeria, a major platform for global exposure.
In a show of support for digital entrepreneurship, Governor Douye Diri awarded ₦250 million and ₦500 million interest-free loans to two outstanding innovators. He also announced plans to establish an IT Knowledge Centre in partnership with NITDA, a move that positions Bayelsa State as an emerging hub for digital innovation.
The BEEP 2025 programme brought together young entrepreneurs, tech innovators, and policymakers to chart new pathways for digital enterprise growth in the Niger Delta and across Nigeria.
