FCT POLICE INTENSIFY SECURITY OPERATIONS, TARGET CRIMINAL HIDEOUTS

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified its security operations across the territory as part of renewed efforts to safeguard lives and property. The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, has ordered all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to conduct immediate and sustained raids on uncompleted buildings, abandoned structures, and other suspected criminal hideouts within their jurisdictions.

The directive, which takes immediate effect, is part of proactive measures aimed at preventing criminals from using unoccupied or ongoing construction sites as hideouts or operational bases.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, the Commissioner urged property developers to liaise with nearby police divisions to ensure that security personnel, artisans, and labourers residing at active construction sites are properly documented and profiled before the end of October 2025.

CP Ajao further instructed DPOs to conduct regular patrols of such locations and arrest any unidentified persons found on-site after 6:00 p.m. He also reiterated that scavenging activities, popularly known as “Baban Bola”, remain strictly prohibited within the FCT, warning residents to report any scavengers or suspicious persons found around their neighbourhoods.

Emphasizing the importance of community participation in crime prevention, the Commissioner called on residents, estate associations, and community leaders to cooperate fully with the police by promptly reporting suspicious movements, ensuring proper profiling of security guards and domestic staff, and avoiding the harbouring of unknown persons within residential areas.

Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 or 08061581938.
