CP DANTAWAYE MILLER TAKES OVER AS 34TH FCT POLICE COMMISSIONER

CP DANTAWAYE MILLER

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the assumption of duty by Commissioner of Police Dantawaye Miller, psc, as the 34th Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT Command.

CP Miller takes over from CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, who has been redeployed to another strategic assignment by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.

A seasoned and versatile police officer with over two decades of distinguished service, CP Dantawaye Miller hails from Afogo, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Born on October 15, 1971, into the family of the late DCP Gajere Dantawaye, he brings a wealth of operational, administrative, and leadership experience to his new role.

He began his education at St. Williams Primary School, Ilorin, and later attended Nuhu Primary School, Kankiya, before proceeding to Government College, Katsina, and Federal Government College, Enugu, where he obtained his Senior School Certificate in 1989.

He holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Kaduna State Polytechnic, a Bachelor of Science degree in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Ilorin.

Commissioner Miller joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Course 20) in May 2000 and began his career at the Bayelsa State Police Command in 2002. Since then, he has held several strategic and command positions across the country.

His postings include:

  • Divisional Crime Officer, ‘A’ Division, Yenagoa;
  • Acting Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Bayelsa State;
  • Escort Commander to the Vice President;
  • Chief Security Officer, Ministry of Petroleum;
  • Commanding Officer, MOPOL 24 Presidential Villa;
  • Escort Commander to the President of Nigeria.

He later served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), FCT Command, Area Commander, Karewa (Adamawa State), Assistant Commissioner (CID), Oyo State Command, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Yobe and Edo States.
Before his current posting, he was Commissioner of Police, Information Technology (IT), Force Headquarters, and most recently, Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command.

A consummate professional, CP Miller has attended several local and international courses, including the Combat Operations and Counter-Terrorism Course in Gwoza, Leadership Training at Shere Hills, VVIP Protection Course in Ginegal, Israel, and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos.

He is an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and an active member of Rotary International, where he is highly regarded for his service and leadership.

Known for his passion for innovation and community-oriented policing, CP Miller has pledged to consolidate on existing security frameworks within the FCT and strengthen community-police partnerships to ensure safety and peace.

“I am committed to deepening collaboration with residents and stakeholders to enhance public safety and uphold the highest standards of policing across the Federal Capital Territory,” he stated.

The FCT Police Command urged residents to continue supporting the police in maintaining peace and order across the territory, as disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, Abuja, SP Josephine Adeh.
