In preparation for the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for November 8, 2025, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, PhD, fsi, today, Wednesday, 5th November 2025, convened a high-level meeting of heads of security agencies in the state to harmonize and strengthen existing operational strategies for the exercise.
The strategic meeting, held at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters, Awka, brought together Service Commanders from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
In his opening remarks, CP Shogunle reaffirmed the collective commitment of all security agencies to ensuring a peaceful, credible, and violence-free election, stressing the importance of synergy, coordination, real-time intelligence sharing, joint patrols, and professionalism in the conduct of personnel before, during, and after the polls.
He emphasized that the security agencies remain united in purpose and have reviewed flashpoints across the state, mapped out deployment strategies, and developed quick-response mechanisms to prevent or address any potential breach of peace.
The Service Commanders, in their respective remarks, pledged unwavering cooperation and reaffirmed their readiness to protect voters, election officials, materials, and critical national infrastructure throughout the election period. They also assured residents of their commitment to maintaining law and order in line with the Electoral Act and democratic principles.
CP Shogunle urged the electorate to remain law-abiding, avoid acts of violence, and participate peacefully in the election. He further called on political parties, candidates, and their supporters to conduct themselves responsibly and respect the rules guiding the electoral process.
“The Anambra State Security Architecture remains resolute and united in ensuring that the will of the people through the ballot prevails,” CP Shogunle stated.
