The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, has extended his heartfelt appreciation to security stakeholders, community leaders, and residents of the State for their cooperation and support to the Police throughout the just-concluded Anambra Governorship Election.
CP Orutugu acknowledged that the peaceful atmosphere witnessed across the State during the election period was the result of the collective commitment of sister security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), traditional rulers, youth groups, religious leaders, and other critical stakeholders who worked hand in hand with the Police in sustaining the message of peace and promoting communal harmony before, during, and after the polls.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Commissioner emphasized that this robust collaboration significantly enhanced operational coordination and contributed immensely to the overall success of the Command’s election security architecture, ensuring that voters freely exercised their civic rights in a safe and secure environment.

He urged residents to continue supporting the Police and other security agencies in consolidating the gains of peace achieved during the election, and to promptly report any suspicious persons or activities capable of disrupting the prevailing peace.
It will be recalled that in the weeks leading up to the election, the Commissioner embarked on a State-wide Security Advocacy Tour, engaging traditional rulers, youth leaders, religious bodies, and market unions. The tour emphasized the importance of peace, voter confidence, and community partnership in ensuring a violence-free election.
