The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has unveiled his Vision, Mission, and Command Philosophy aimed at repositioning the Nigerian Navy to effectively fulfil its constitutional responsibilities and enhance national security.
According to a statement signed by Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, Director of Information, the policy statements will serve as the foundation for the CNS’s strategic direction in driving operational efficiency, professionalism, and synergy with other security agencies.
Vice Admiral Abbas stated that his Vision is “to develop a modern, agile and professional naval force dedicated to securing Nigeria’s maritime interests and advancing national security objectives in synergy with other security agencies.”
He further outlined the Mission of the Nigerian Navy as “to deploy a highly motivated and professional naval force capable of safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime interests and contributing effectively to joint operations in defence of national sovereignty and maintenance of internal stability.”
The CNS also articulated his Command Philosophy, emphasizing leadership founded on integrity, discipline, merit, and accountability. He stated that he intends “to lead with unwavering integrity and purposeful resolve; enforcing discipline, merit and accountability as the bedrock of professionalism, while promoting personnel welfare and inspiring a mission-ready force dedicated to excellence and service to the nation.”
Commodore Adams-Aliu urged the general public and stakeholders to note the new policy direction as the Nigerian Navy continues its commitment to maritime security and national defence.
