The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has urged young Nigerians to channel their creativity and energy toward positive change and nation-building rather than internet fraud and other criminal activities.

Olukoyede gave the charge during the “You Against Crime Festival,” which held across the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory—Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Bwari, and AMAC—from Monday, November 3 to Monday, November 10, 2025.

Represented by the Assistant Commander of the EFCC and Head of Enlightenment and Reorientation, ACE II Aisha Muhammed, the EFCC Chairman emphasized that Nigerian youths are the nation’s most valuable resource and must embrace integrity, discipline, and hard work to secure a brighter future for themselves and the country.

“Young people must see themselves as agents of positive change. The EFCC’s youth-centered campaigns are aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of cybercrime and corruption while promoting ethical values and responsible citizenship,” he stated.

Olukoyede explained that the EFCC’s focus on preventive education, particularly among the youth, is part of a broader strategy to curb financial crimes by addressing their root causes through enlightenment and value reorientation.

The Convener of the Festival, Mr. Tayo Folorunsho, praised the EFCC for its active role in the programme, noting that such initiatives are vital in shaping the moral outlook of young Nigerians.

“The ‘You Against Crime Festival’ provides a platform for youth engagement, civic education, and crime prevention, helping to nurture responsible and patriotic citizens,” Folorunsho said.

The week-long event brought together students and youth groups who were sensitized on the importance of integrity, civic responsibility, and the dangers of drug abuse and cybercrime.

Resource persons were drawn from the EFCC, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
