Anambra State is set for an exciting and memorable Christmas season as the State Executive Council (ANSEC), chaired by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has approved a large-scale festive celebration themed “Onwan Dezemba.”
The decision was reached at the 23rd ANSEC meeting held on Monday, 17 November 2025, at the Light House, Awka, where the Council also deliberated on other matters of sustainable development across the state.
Announcing the plan, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, said the Council endorsed a lineup of vibrant cultural and entertainment events designed to make the yuletide season “unlike any other” for residents and visitors. He noted that major activities will hold at the newly developed Solution Fun City, the remodeled Ekwueme Square, and other upgraded recreational centres across the state.
According to him, the festivities will feature masquerade parades, Christmas carols, cultural performances, and a series of musical concerts headlined by prominent Nigerian artistes. The aim, he said, is to give Anambra a world-class holiday experience that highlights its culture, creativity, and growing tourism appeal.

A flagship venue for the celebration, Solution Fun City, is equipped with a cinema, waterpark, six swimming pools, family and children’s play areas, an arcade, and a country club—making it one of the most expansive entertainment complexes in the region. Mefor said the facility is a key part of Governor Soludo’s broader vision to make the state a top destination for leisure and investment.
Governor Soludo, during an inspection of the facility, described it as “a fun city like no other,” adding that the development marks a shift in Anambra’s identity. “Anambra is now becoming a destination hub, not a departure lounge,” he said. He noted that the current structures represent only the first phase of an ambitious plan to build the world’s largest fun city in the state.
Expected to boost tourism and stimulate the local economy, the project has already created new jobs through the recruitment and training of staff. Officials say this aligns with the governor’s agenda of transforming Anambra into a dynamic economic corridor—“the Dubai-Silicon Valley of the country”—where business, leisure, and culture intersect.
With the “Onwan Dezemba” fiesta now approved, residents can look forward to a festive season filled with colour, culture, entertainment, and renewed economic vibrancy.
