The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, in collaboration with multiple security agencies, has reactivated the joint security operation known as Operation Sweep FCT, marking a renewed push to strengthen safety and deter crime across Abuja.
The operation was relaunched on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, with firm strategic support from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON. His commitment to enhancing security in the nation’s capital has continued to drive improved inter-agency coordination and operational capacity within the Territory.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, before deployment, heads of security agencies addressed personnel at Eagle Square, outlining a reinforced mandate focused on proactive, intelligence-driven and highly visible security actions.

Designed to deter criminal activities and ensure swift, coordinated responses to emerging threats, Operation Sweep FCT brings together a broad coalition of security and emergency agencies, including:

- The Military (Army), Nigerian Air Force, and Nigerian Navy
- Department of State Services (DSS)
- Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)
- Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
- Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
- Federal Fire Service
- National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
- Directorate of Road Traffic Services (VIO)

To improve efficiency, the FCT has been segmented into strategic sectors, enabling rapid deployment, intensified patrols and a strong multi-agency security presence across neighbourhoods and satellite communities.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Command urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity via the FCT Police emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
