An attempt to snatch a four-month-old baby has been foiled by the police in Nnewi.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, CSP Haruna Mohammed, said about 9:30pm on February 28, 2021, there was a distress call at Okpunoeze Uruagu, Nnewi that a man under false pretence of being an okada rider, who was later identified as Ikevhukwu Odoh ‘m’, 25, of Ehamifu in Isuzo Local Government Area of Enugu State allegedly went into a compound at same address and attempted to snatch a four months old baby named Success Odeh ‘f’ from her mother.
Meanwhile, the mother resisted and screamed for help which attracted the attention of the neighbours who in conjunction with local vigilante assisted the police in arresting the suspect.
CSP Mohammed further explained that the case is under investigation to ascertain the motive behind such act after which the suspect would be brought to justice.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, enjoin the public to be wary of strangers or suspicious movements in their neigbourhood and always monitor their children in order to avert similar incident.
