The spokesperson of the Osun state police command, SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin confirmed the rescue on Wednesday. She explained that the incident happened on the 2nd March, 2021 around 7:40pm, where a gang of criminals emerged from the bush and blocked Ibokun/Osogbo road, along Oja-Tuntun area, Egbeda town in an attempt to kidnap/rob the unsuspecting victim(s).
However, the driver was shot and later died while attempting to maneuver and escape the blockade.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, in his assiduous task in ensuring that the state is not a safe haven for criminals; personally led the combined team of Police officers, vigilante and local hunters to comb bushes to ensure the perpetrators are arrested.
He further reiterated his resolve that, all forms of criminal incendiary will be checkmated in all nook and crannies; warning criminals to have a rethink as the Command has declared total war on unscrupulous elements.
Finally, the Commissioner of Police enjoined members of the public to support, co-operate and collaborate with the Police in fighting crime and bring it down to the barest minimum by giving useful and prompt information to the police.
