WIKE URGES AFRICAN LEADERS

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, has extended warm Christmas greetings to residents of the Territory, urging them to embrace peace, unity and good neighbourliness during the festive season.

In his 2025 Christmas message to residents, Wike congratulated Christians in the FCT on the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, describing Christmas as a season of joy, sharing and sober reflection.

He encouraged Christian faithful and other residents to use the period to promote goodwill, harmony and peaceful coexistence, noting that these values are essential to sustaining peace and prosperity in the nation’s capital.

The minister urged residents to reflect on and recommit themselves to the virtues of love, unity and peace, which he described as central to the teachings of Jesus Christ. He also called on residents to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria and its leaders, expressing hope for continued peace and progress in the coming years.

Wike expressed appreciation to the people of the FCT for their cooperation and support for the Administration throughout 2025, noting that the year had witnessed significant achievements across critical sectors.

According to him, the past 12 months recorded monumental developments, including the renovation of schools, improved staffing and equipping of hospitals, construction of roads and bridges across the six area councils, enhanced support for the judiciary, and strengthened security architecture in the Territory.

He described 2025 as a year of remarkable progress and thanked residents for their understanding and partnership in driving development across the FCT.

The minister also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his strong support toward the growth and development of the Federal Capital Territory. He further appreciated development partners, stakeholders, the management and staff of the FCT Administration, as well as residents of the Territory for their collective contributions.

Reassuring residents of the Administration’s commitment, Wike said the FCT Administration would remain steadfast in providing infrastructure and services that would have the greatest positive impact on the lives of residents.

On security, the minister urged residents to remain vigilant during the festive period and to promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies. He assured residents that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure the safety of lives and property before, during and after the Christmas celebrations.

He added that necessary measures had been implemented to enable residents to celebrate the season in a safe, secure and joyful environment.

Wike concluded by once again wishing residents of the Federal Capital Territory a Merry Christmas and happy celebrations, while praying for God’s blessings on the FCT and Nigeria.
