“…YOU ARE THE PRIDE OF THE NATION” – CAS

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, on Christmas Day, 25 December 2025, marked the festive season with Nigerian Air Force personnel deployed at the front lines by sharing a special luncheon with troops and conveying goodwill across all operational theatres.

The initiative reflected the CAS’s deliberate effort to sustain morale, demonstrate empathy, and personally recognise the sacrifices of personnel who remained on duty to safeguard the nation during the festivities.

The CAS luncheon afforded close interaction of serving and retired senior officers as well as other critical security stakeholders with the frontline officers, airmen, and airwomen. Commending their courage and professionalism, he stated, “You are the pride of the nation.

While others celebrate with their families, you remain steadfast at your posts, ensuring that Nigerians can celebrate in peace and safety.” He described Christmas at the frontlines as a powerful symbol of patriotism, duty, and selfless service.

In a coordinated demonstration of inclusive leadership, the interaction was simultaneously undertaken in all operational locations in Kainji, Katsina, Maiduguri, Port Harcourt, Makurdi, Kaduna, and Enugu.

At these locations, the CAS Christmas goodwill message was delivered while hosting luncheons with troops deployed within the respective areas of responsibility.

Addressing personnel across the various theatres, the CAS reaffirmed the operational significance of their presence during the festive period. He noted, “Your vigilance during this season sends a clear message that the Nigerian Air Force remains alert, resolute, and fully committed to denying criminal elements any respite, regardless of the time or season.”

He added that the dedication of frontline troops continues to reassure Nigerians and strengthen confidence in ongoing security efforts nationwide.

Reiterating his Command Philosophy, the CAS emphasised that troop welfare remains central to mission success. “Operational effectiveness is sustained by motivated and well-supported personnel,” he said, assuring that the Nigerian Air Force would continue to prioritise improved living conditions, logistics support, medical care, and timely welfare initiatives to enhance morale and combat readiness across all theatres.

The Christmas Day engagements were met with overwhelmingly positive responses from the troops, who expressed appreciation for the CAS’s thoughtful gesture. Many described the luncheon as a morale-boosting reminder that their sacrifices are recognised at the highest levels of command, reaffirming their resolve to remain disciplined, committed, and mission-focused in the defence of Nigeria throughout the festive season and beyond.
